Barcelona Manager’s In Big ‘Dilemma’ Over Three Positions For CL Clash

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick must make critical considerations while deciding on his starting lineup for Thursday’s Champions League match against Newcastle United.

Lamine Yamal is expected to miss out, while Frenkie de Jong, who missed last weekend’s match against Valencia, has resumed training.

According to Wednesday’s edition of Sport, Flick faces a ‘dilemma’ when deciding on his midfield for the match against Newcastle at St James’ Park.

Pedri and Marc Casadó started against Los Ches, and they impressed in the middle of the pitch. The former was replaced by Marc Bernal, who recovered after a long-term injury.

Sport reports that Pedri is untouchable, and the manager must choose his midfield partner for tomorrow’s Champions League match.

Casadó is the Dutchman’s backup, and with De Jong remaining in training, Flick must decide whether to start him or stick with the Pedri-Casadó pairing against the Magpies.

According to AS, Flick is unsure whether to put Robert Lewandowski up front or Ronald Araújo at center-back against Newcastle.

The 37-year-old Pole had an injury early in the season and came off the bench in the last three games, while Ferran Torres has started all four games.

According to AS, Lewandowski is more effective than the Spaniard and is the Champions League’s third highest scorer, although Flick is impressed with Torres’ ability to open up opposing defences this season.

Araújo did not start the remaining two games, since Flick preferred Pau Cubarsí and Eric García in the defense.
