Iker Rodriguez, one of Barcelona’s most promising goalkeepers, has delayed his development owing to a left shoulder ailment, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The problem had previously kept him from participating at full strength at the end of last season. At the end of August, it was determined that surgery was the best option for his problem, and he now faces an indefinite recuperation period based on his development.
A prospective first-team player
Rodriguez, a member of Pol Planas’ Juvenil A squad alongside goalkeepers Max Bonfill and Gerard Sala, made his debut under Juliano Belletti last season and was seen as the leading prospect for the starting position this season.

The Sabadell-born goalkeeper was also considered by Barça Atletic, with Diego Kochen and Eder Aller.
Rodriguez’s omission from Barcelona’s Champions League B list is due to an injury, but he can be added if he recovers.
Rodriguez is presently focusing on a gradual recuperation, with the goal of returning stronger for the 2025-26 season.
Despite missing many important events, he is projected to have enough time to enjoy a complete season, make an impression, and continue to impress Barcelona’s coaches, especially those in the first squad, with his quality, work ethic and attitude.
