Barcelona Eyeing Two Premier League Defenders

Barcelona Eyeing Two Premier League Defenders

Barcelona may need to enter the transfer market earlier than their original plan to move for a central defender in the summer of 2026 due to Andreas Christensen’s injury.

Hansi Flick will have only six defenders for the majority of the season due to the Danish defender’s four-month injury.

The Catalan outfit are now assessing possible short-term additions for the rest of the year, but they already have their sights set on certain long-term goals for the summer of 2026.

Although Flick appears to be in favour of acquiring some assistance, the Director of Football Deco is not yet persuaded by the available possibilities.

Barcelona Interested In Murillo

Murillo is one name that has frequently been used in connection with Barcelona. The Nottingham Forest defender is liked in Barca and has been included in the Brazil squad.

According to Sport as reported by Football Espana, his skill with the ball, speed, and game reading make him perfect for Barcelona’s football style.

With Barca’s salary cap predicament making a January transfer very unlikely, he is still a possibility for next summer.

According to the Catalan daily, Deco is keeping an eye on a second defender at Forest.

In 2023, Jair Cunha, another Brazilian, was considered by the Blaugrana, but an injury prevented him from moving to the Camp Nou.

The now 20-year-old moved from Santos to Botafogo last year. He joined Forest for a fee of €12 million last February.

However, Cunha has only made two senior appearances in the Premier League, where things have not gone on well.

He is expected to make a move in January and may return to Brazil; Champions Flamengo are reportedly interested in signing him.
