Marcus Rashford was benched by Barcelona manager Hansi Flick on Sunday after arriving late for training ahead of their La Liga clash.
The 27-year-old forward, on loan from Manchester United, was expected to start against Getafe after scoring twice in midweek versus Newcastle.

But Flick stood firm on discipline, punishing Rashford for missing the squad’s morning briefing before training. The lateness cost him his spot in the XI.
Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo reported that Flick made it clear no player, regardless of status, was above the rules at Barcelona.
The sanction mirrored punishments previously handed to Jules Kounde, Inaki Pena and Raphinha for breaking punctuality regulations under the German coach.

Rashford was left among the substitutes, with Ferran Torres chosen instead. It was another setback after his recent resurgence in Catalonia.
This was not the first time Rashford had been disciplined for lateness, having faced similar issues earlier in his Manchester United career.
During the 2022/23 season, Erik ten Hag benched him against Wolves for oversleeping before a matchday meeting, reports Express.
On that occasion, Rashford redeemed himself by scoring the winning goal after coming off the bench in the second half.
Post-match, the England star admitted his mistake, calling it a “team rules” issue and saying he had overslept before the game.
