Barcelona Director Holds Surprise Meeting With Brazilian Duo

With the summer transfer window entering its final days, Barcelona continue to be linked with potential late moves despite financial restrictions.

The club’s sporting director Deco held a surprise meeting on Tuesday with Giuliano Bertolucci, the agent representing AS Monaco defenders Caio Henrique and Vanderson.

Both Brazilian full-backs have been monitored by the Catalans for several months, although any deal would likely depend on a significant outgoing transfer to ease salary cap constraints.

Henrique And Vanderson Back On Barça’s Radar

Vanderson, 23, has long been admired by Barcelona as a natural right-back option. However, Monaco’s €25 million-plus valuation priced him out of reach earlier in the window.

The Blaugrana instead placed faith in Jules Kounde and Eric Garcia to cover the position, with new boss Hansi Flick backing the pair.

Caio Henrique, meanwhile, is a versatile left-sided defender who can also play at centre-back. At 26, he offers more experience and is expected to be available for a lower fee than Vanderson.

Earlier this summer, Henrique was a leading candidate alongside Alejandro Grimaldo when Barça considered signing a left-back, reports Barca Universal.

However, the emergence of Alejandro Balde and academy talent Jofre Torrents persuaded the club to stick with internal solutions.

The latest meeting could be an attempt by Henrique and Vanderson’s entourage to test Barcelona’s stance before the window closes, especially with Premier League interest also strong.

For now, Barça’s top priority remains registering recent signings who are still awaiting official squad numbers.
