According to a recent RAC1 report, Barcelona is close to concluding a new long-term contract with defender Eric Garcia, which is anticipated to be concluded in the coming weeks.
According to reports, both parties have struck an agreement, with just minor procedures remaining before the deal becomes public.
Garcia’s new contract will keep him with the club until 2030, assuring his long-term future.
Garcia, who is only 24 years old, has established himself as one of Hansi Flick’s most reliable players this season.
His poise, defensive acumen, and ability to play in numerous places have made him an important member of Barcelona’s backline.

With his current contract slated to expire in 2026, the club’s first aim has been to prolong his stay, particularly after a solid run of performances during the team’s injury crisis.
Important player for Flick
Garcia has appeared in ten of Barcelona’s thirteen games this season, frequently creating a strong central defensive pairing with Pau Cubarsi.
His consistency and leadership have not gone unnoticed, with teams such as Chelsea said to be keenly following his situation in recent weeks.
If extension talks fell through, the Premier League club was thought to be interested in making a transfer, maybe with a pre-contract deal in place by January 2026.
However, Barcelona has made it plain from the start that Garcia is not for sale, and both the club and the player share the same desire to continue their path together.
Mutual goal
In fact, sporting director Deco reinforced this earlier this month, saying:
“The plan is to stick with him as long as he wishes. The interest is mutual: we are pleased with Eric. We are pleased and want to continue his contract.
“We are talking, and the renewal will happen at the right time.”
Barcelona is sure that the renovation will be completed shortly, as negotiations are moving smoothly.
Despite outside interest, there is no anxiety within the club, as Garcia is totally dedicated to completing his development under Flick.
