According to SPORT, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, the captain of Barcelona, has made significant progress in his recuperation.
As he recovers from back surgery performed in July, the seasoned goalie has begun going to the gym.
Ter Stegen is currently concentrating on getting back to full strength and fitness in preparation for his anticipated return early next year, following months of discomfort and setbacks.
Willing to come back stronger
According to the source, Ter Stegen has been using the exercise bike to strengthen his right knee, which also needed work after his protracted injury.
His most recent development is encouraging for Barcelona and him as the 33-year-old perseveres through a difficult recuperation process.
The German goalie’s problems started in September 2024 when he had a major ligament damage playing against Villarreal.

Due to the setback, he was unable to play for nearly the whole campaign and only made two appearances before his back problems returned.
He played well before the pain returned, representing Germany in the UEFA Nations League semi-finals and third-place game in spite of these difficulties.
Now that his knee pain has subsided, Ter Stegen can concentrate on regaining his strength following months of rest.
He hopes to be ready for selection by January, and his recuperation from back surgery is proceeding according to plan.
Future uncertainty but complete dedication
Ter Stegen is adamant about going back, although it’s unclear what his long-term plans at Barcelona are.
The veteran goalie may get less playing time once healthy again, according to rumors generated by the club’s decision to bring in Joan Garcia.
Ter Stegen’s attitude, however, makes it apparent that he has no intention of giving up his position. The captain is adamant about proving himself and taking back the top spot at Barça.
In addition to his club goals, he has his sights set on the 2026 World Cup, where he wants to guarantee his spot as Germany’s starting goalie.
