Barcelona Announce Venue Ahead Of Champions League Clash Vs PSG

Barcelona have reportedly confirmed that Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys in Montjuic will host their first UEFA Champions League home game of the season against trophy-holder Paris Saint-Germain.

“FC Barcelona announces that the second match of the Champions League group stage, on Wednesday, October 1, at 9:00 p.m., against Paris Saint-Germain, will be played at the Estadi Lluís Companys Olimpic,” the club statement read.

The game was originally scheduled to take place at Spotify Camp Nou, but the Catalans have not yet secured the licenses and permits required to reopen the stadium.

UEFA’s more stringent rules would prevent them from hosting a Champions League match, even if they were able to resolve the problems in time to play Real Sociedad on September 28.

As a result, Barcelona have confirmed that UEFA had already revised the details of the PSG match at the Montjuic Stadium on their official website.

UEFA Could Allow Barca Host Champions League Games In Camp Nou

Although it is against the regulations, UEFA is willing to permit stadium changes halfway through the league phase, therefore it is hoped that the competition’s next home games would be played at Camp Nou.

“The Club continues to work intensively to obtain the necessary administrative permits for the opening of the Spotify Camp Nou in the coming months,” the club statement further noted.

“FC Barcelona would like to thank its members and fans for their understanding and support throughout such a complex and exciting process as the return to the new Spotify Camp Nou.”
