Atletico Madrid are reportedly keen on a move for Southampton midfielder, Matheus Fernandes this summer transfer window.
Fernandes, 21, is undoubtedly generating transfer interest after an encouraging debut season in English football, but Saints are holding out for a substantial fee.
In addition to playing his first preseason games in Girona last week, the Portuguese youth international has drawn interest from Premier League side, West Ham.
According to the Sun, when the Hammers inquired about Fernandes, they were “not given encouragement over a move” for him.

Will Still, the manager of the Saints, stated that he will only go if “the right price” is paid and expressed hope that the team will retain star player Fernandes this summer.
What Did Still Said About Fernandes
Asked if there is any chance Fernandes remains a Saints player beyond the summer, Still said as echoed by the Daily Echo: “I hope so. I hope so. Know he’s a good player.
“I know there’s interest. I know there’s a lot of noise around him. That’s normal when you’ve got quality players like him, but I think the club has been clear.
“If he leaves, he’ll leave at the right price, and we’ll be able to replace him. I’m not too worried about that. I don’t want to get involved in all the rumours and stuff.
“We know that as long as he’s here, we can use him and he’ll be good. And if he goes, then I’m sure everyone will come out bigger and better from it.”
Saints could only sell if an offer of £40–50 million is made, as they are asking for a far greater price than the previously stated £30 million.
In his first season at Saints, Fernandes made 42 appearances in all competitions, tallying three goals and dishing out six assists.
