Simeone Questions Ballon d’Or Snub
“He can create, he can score, he presses, he runs. I honestly have no idea how he didn’t win the Ballon d’Or,” Simeone added, calling Raphinha one of the most decisive players in La Liga.
Despite the defeat, the Atletico boss insisted he was pleased with his team’s effort and approach, reports Barca Blaugranes.
“We started very well, but they hurt us through the middle. In the second half, they began stronger, but from the 20th minute onwards, we controlled the match,” he said.
Atletico created several big chances but failed to convert them during a tense final stretch.
Simeone remains optimistic, however, praising his squad’s mentality and consistency in recent weeks.
The loss ends Atletico’s strong run of form and leaves them six points behind Barcelona in the La Liga standings.
