Aston Villa Named As Favourites To Sign Chelsea Player

Chelsea won their first game of the season, defeating West Ham United 5-1 over the weekend. Despite behind by one goal in the first few minutes of the game, the Blues rallied and delivered an outstanding effort. Now turning our attention to the transfer market, the agreements for Xavi Simons and Alejandro Garnacho are still on hold.

Furthermore, the club intends to part ways with some of its players who are not in its long-term plans before the transfer deadline. This includes Nicolas Jackson, Chelsea’s key striker from last season.

In recent weeks, several clubs have indicated interest in the player. However, there did not appear to be a frontrunner in signing Jackson. That is till today.

While appearing on the Inside Track Podcast, Football Insider transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Jackson is likely to go before the end of the transfer window, with Aston Villa in pole position to complete the deal. He said:

“Emery gave [Jackson] his La Liga debut at Villarreal, and the two of them have a good relationship, which Emery hopes will give his team an advantage as they pursue Jackson.”

“It is a deal they are working on, and an agreement is highly likely. Villa are currently in first place.

Aston Villa appear as frontrunners to sign Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson.

Emery is thought to be a major fan of Jackson, having previously handled him at Villarreal. He is eager to rejoin with the Senegalese striker, despite his difficult start to the Premier League season.

Jackson, who joined Chelsea from Villarreal in 2023, has made 81 appearances for the club. However, the 24-year-old has yet to establish himself as the club’s regular striker. In the previous season, he scored only 13 goals in all competitions, which is insufficient for a club of this size.

As a result, Chelsea has already signed Liam Delap and Joao Pedro, who are both doing well. Jackson is anticipated to fall down the pecking order if he stays, thus parting ways appears to be the best option for both sides.

Aston Villa is not alone in its pursuit of the talent; Bayern Munich and Newcastle United are also interested. All signals indicate that Jackson’s story at Stamford Bridge is coming to a close. The only thing left to be seen is where he will wind up.
