Arteta Sweating On Arsenal Star Who ‘Felt Something’ In Bayern Win

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta provided an early update after Leandro Trossard was forced off due to injury during the Gunners’ 3-1 Champions League victory over Bayern Munich at the Emirates Stadium.

After receiving treatment from the medical staff, the 30-year-old displayed signs of calf discomfort, leading to his withdrawal seven minutes before halftime.

Starting on the left flank, Trossard—who had scored in Sunday’s 4-1 North London derby victory over Tottenham—went straight down the tunnel after being substituted.

Noni Madueke, his replacement, made an instant impression by scoring Arsenal’s second goal of the evening After Jurrien Timber’s opener. Gabriel Martinelli’s third goal sealed the victory.

Arteta Unsure Of Trossard’s Condition

According to Football Talks, speaking after the match, Arteta was asked for an early evaluation of Trossard’s condition and he said: “With Leo, we don’t know [the extent of the injury],” he said.

“He said he felt something. We didn’t want to take any risks, obviously.”

Trossard has contributed five goals and five assists in 15 games across all competitions for Arsenal this term.

But it’s increasingly doubtful that he will score in three straight Premier League games. The Belgian will be evaluated to see whether he can play in Sunday’s top-of-the-table match at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea.

Mikel Arteta now has Madueke at his service after the Englishman scored his first goal since joining from Stamford Bridge in the summer. He hopes to be considered for a starting position.
