Mikel Arteta was reportedly asked if Arsenal had a better season than Tottenham Hotspur after Ange Postecoglou’s side secured the UEFA Europa League title after defeating Manchester United in the final.
Despite not winning a title this season, Arsenal currently sit second in the league table.
When asked if he thought Arsenal had a stronger season than Tottenham during the Southampton pre-match press conference, Arteta said he prefers to evaluate Arsenal’s season rather than compare two distinct clubs.
He said to Sky Sports: “I don’t like to compare to other teams. I need to analyse my team, that’s my job.”

Without a question, Arsenal have outperformed Tottenham in the Premier League, as Spurs are presently ranked 17th in the league standings. But the fact that Tottenham have taken home a European trophy mean something.
Ultimately, both teams will play in the UEFA Champions League next season, with Postecoglou’s side taking home a European trophy at the end of the current campaign.
The way the season has unfolded for Tottenham supporters will make them very happy. The club must, without a doubt, bolster the team during the summer transfer window.
It is not acceptable for a team of their caliber to place 17th in the league standings. They ought to be vying for both domestic trophies and a spot in the top division each season.
Arsenal, on the other hand, will be sad not to win the league crown. The Gunners though, have also advanced to the UEFA Champions League semifinals. And Arteta will believe that a few outstanding summer acquisitions could help them win the championship.
