William Saliba’s injury has kept him out of action longer than anticipated, but manager Mikel Arteta is optimistic that the Arsenal defender is getting closer to making a recovery.
Saliba sustained what was called a “little niggle” during training, and he hasn’t played since the Gunners’ victory over Bayern Munich on November 26.
Arteta said the Frenchman will return “in a matter of days” at the time, but Saliba hasn’t played in the last four games.
He is still a doubt for Arsenal’s Saturday home game against Wolves; a decision will be made following the Gunners’ Friday afternoon training.

Arteta Gives Update On Saliba
“It was something quite small,” Arteta said as quoted by The Evening Standard.
“It came from an ankle injury that he had and then it started to modify the way he was running and all that. He had to overload an area, which is something common.
“But at some point he was uncomfortable continuing to train and play and we had to stop it.
“He looks better but we have to wait and see if it’s enough for him to be able to train with the team.”
The center back is expected to be fit for Arsenal’s first visit to the Hill Dickinson Stadium on December 20, despite the fact that he is running out of time to play against Wolves.
Arteta said: “If you asked me [about the] Everton game, I think he will be fit. For tomorrow I don’t know.”
