Arsenal’s “Future Captain” Should Follow Ethan Nwaneri Out The Exit Door

The Gunners are seven points clear at the top of the Premier League, have advanced to the next round of the FA Cup, are leading their League Cup semi-final, and defeated Inter Milan 3-1 on Tuesday for their eighth consecutive Champions League triumph.

It truly feels like this is the year Mikel Arteta’s club will cross the finish line, and while there are still a few stages to go, the team is beginning to connect.

However, the North Londoners will be missing Ethan Nwaneri for the remainder of the season due to his loan move to Marseille, which is expected to be followed by one of his Arsenal teammates.

Why is Nwaneri’s loan a good idea?

Now, there are some completely sensible concerns about Nwaneri’s short-term borrowing.

After all, Arsenal does not have a good track record when it comes to injuries, so it would be wise to have the teenager around just in case. According To Footballfuncat.

However, while that is a valid objection, it does not appear to be strong enough to impede the child’s development.

After all, it is the major reason for sending him to France: to help him develop.

Sure, he might have gotten some more minutes as the season went, but based on how the first half of the campaign has turned out, it doesn’t seem all that likely.

For example, despite being such a promising player, the Hale Ender has only made 12 first-team appearances, totaling 515 minutes.

In comparison, last season, the young phenom made 37 appearances and played 1378 minutes, scoring nine goals and providing two assists.

Now, the amazing talent was never going to make a lot of appearances this season, but the lack of game time, owing primarily to the summer signings, has been impossible to overlook.

With all of this in mind, a loan to a top team in a top league makes perfect sense, especially because the loan cost is expected to reduce with more game time.
