Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has mentioned several times in recent weeks that the first squad will be undergoing a big overhaul, with a striker signing expected to lead the Gunners’ transfers. While a number of targets have been connected in previous months, a new purchase might now be made soon with the season over in Europe.
According to Caught Offside, Arsenal are’very serious’ about signing RB Leipzig superstar Benjamin Sesko, with Andrea Berta leading preparations for an £84 million bid for the Slovenian striker. Sesko scored 21 goals and provided six assists for Leipzig in the recently concluded season and is said to have a verbal agreement to leave Leipzig for the right price.
Gyokeres presumably the focus now over Sesko
Arsenal’s interest in Benjamin Sesko is not new; in fact, the RB Leipzig star has been on their radar since last summer. The 21-year-old signed a new contract with the Bundesliga giants around this time last year to further his development, and while the Gunners appeared to be favourites to sign him for the majority of the previous year, their priorities may have switched.

sports Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres currently appears to be at the top of their shortlist, with sports director Andrea Berta a particular fan of the Swedish international. Arsenal has already bid £59 million to his employers, and the player has also been presented with a formal offer that includes a substantial signing-on incentive.
With Manchester United, another of Gyokeres’ suitors in recent months, unlikely to be able to afford him this summer, Arsenal would be very surprised if they do not sign the striker. Not only has he achieved higher numbers than Sesko, but he is also more financially viable and has some experience in England.
In the event of any unexpected turns, Sesko is best positioned to be the alternative to Gyokeres.
