Arsenal To Activate £44M Exit Clause Of Prolific Bundesliga Striker

Arsenal are reportedly prepared to improve on their incredible start to the new season by activating a top Bundesliga player’s release clause in January.

Arsenal have already had an amazing week with thrilling victories over Tottenham in the north London derby and Bayern Munich in the Champions League. On Sunday, they will try to top it all off against Chelsea.

Mikel Arteta’s men are now undefeated in 16 games, lead the Premier League by six points and also sit nicely at the Champions League summit.

In summary, Arsenal’s opening few months of the new season could not have gone more smoothly.

They still want to bolster their team in the January window, though, so it seems they are not content to sit back and enjoy their success.

Adding a new striker would seem to be the top priority given the recent links to Samu Aghehowa, a striker for Porto.

Arsenal Target Guirassy

However, according to the German newspaper BILD, the Gunners have another target in mind, Borussia Dortmund Serhou Guirassy,

According to reports, the 29-year-old’s contract with the German powerhouses contains a £44 million (€50 million or $58 million) release clause that is only available to “top clubs” in Europe.

Arsenal, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, and Liverpool are believed to be among the top European teams qualified to activate the extraordinary buy-out clause.

Although the provision will be in effect for the January transfer window, Guirassy is willing to hold off on taking on a more significant challenge until the summer.
