Arsenal Send Partey Transfer Message Following Barcelona Talks

Arsenal have reportedly confirmed they are still in talks with Thomas Partey over extending his stay at the club.

Manager Mikel Arteta wants to keep Partey, whose current contract expires on June 30.

According to reports, the midfield player discussed a possible free transfer with Barcelona, one of La Liga’s biggest clubs. Partey spent his formative years in Spain. In 2020, he joined Arsenal from Atletico Madrid for a reported fee of £45 million.

The Ghanaian played more games for Arsenal this season than ever before. Partey exceeded his previous best total of 40 appearances with a total of 52.

However, when Arsenal announced their retained and released list on Wednesday, they provided a note raising doubts about his future.

Two members of the men’s squad, including Partey, have contracts that expire at the end of this month.

According to The Mirror, a passage read: “The following players’ contracts also expire on June 30, 2025.

“Discussions are ongoing, and once matters are finalised between all parties, we will communicate in due course: Chloe Kelly, Thomas Partey and Michal Rosiak.”

Arteta has gone on record to state that he hopes Partey will sign a new deal. “I think consistency-wise it’s been his best season,” the Arsenal manager said last month.

“The way he’s played, performed, his availability, has been exceptional and he’s a really important player for us.”

Arsenal have confirmed the departure of Jorginho and Kieran Tierney, two first-team players, aside from the Ghana international.
While Jorginho, 33, has almost sealed his move to Flamengo, Tierney, 27, is expected to return to his former team, Celtic.
