Arsenal Reject Approach For One Star But Arteta Is Open To Sanctioning An Exit

Arsenal have reportedly rejected an offer from AC Milan for Riccardo Calafiori.

Even though Arsenal paid £42 million for Calafiori just last summer, he doesn’t have a certain spot in the starting lineup.

After one-season spells at Basel and Bologna, the Gunners signed the Italian star, although his time in London should be longer because the club are reportedly reluctant to let him go.

Over the past three seasons, Mikel Arteta has deployed Gabriel and William Saliba in 89 Premier League games, losing only 11.

It has grown challenging to break up the duo, and Myles Lewis-Skelly, who plays left back, is also a fierce rival of Calafiori.

Calafiori, however, appears to be remaining there in spite of Serie A’s interest.

According to The Mirror as reported by Football 365, the Italy defender wants to stay in London, and AC Milan made an inquiry, but they were turned down by Arsenal.

Although a string of injury issues hasn’t helped Calafiori’s case, it is anticipated that he will play a role in Arsenal’s future plans.

He has time on his side and has already demonstrated his value at highest level at the age of 23.

He was one of Italy’s outstanding players in the group stage of the European Championship last summer after making his international debut less than two weeks before Italy’s first group match in Germany.

To increase their defensive alternatives, the Rossoneri “are now pursuing a move” for Oleksandr Zinchenko, as Calafiori seems to be off limits.

Zinchenko only played 527 minutes in the Premier League in 2024–25, and his contract expires next summer.
