Thomas Partey is reportedly one of the transfer decisions Arsenal are looking to make. With just 12 months left on his contract, the Ghana international was predicted to leave Emirates Stadium last summer, but he surprised everyone by staying.
Even though Partey had a great 2024–2025 season, Mikel Arteta and former sporting director Edu had been very proactive about contract extensions. However, as it became apparent that the club were more amenable to him staying, things took a significant turn in April.
Arsenal will therefore still need to acquire a defensive midfield player in the upcoming years, and this summer is thought to be the earliest possible time.

Martin Zubimendi’s transfer from Real Sociedad is progressing well. But more midfield reinforcements are required because Jorginho is expected to join Flamengo.
Joao Palhinha, a former Gunners transfer target, is one of several choices available and may be ideal for a variety of reasons.
The Portugal international appeared to be ready to anchor Bayern Munich’s midfield for the foreseeable future after joining the Bavarian giants from Fulham in a £47 million deal, six months after the identical move fell through. However, that has not happened at all.
According to Football London, Arsenal have received a transfer greenlight from the Portuguese’s camp after his move to Germany did not materialize as expected.
Arsenal need to decide on Partey’s future before they can think about showing new interest in Palhinha. Additionally, there is the Zubimendi aspect, since it appears highly probable that the Spaniard will eventually leave his boyhood club.
