Arsenal has been linked with a deal for Atletico Madrid attacker Julian Alvarez during the summer transfer window.
According to a report from Spanish daily MARCA, via Sport Witness, they will compete with Premier League champions Liverpool.
Both teams are interested in the 25-year-old World Cup winner, but it remains to be seen where he ends up. He has been great for Atletico Madrid since joining the club, scoring 29 goals in his first season. The player has seven assists as well.
It remains to be seen whether the two Premier League teams can persuade the Spanish club to trade the player. He is unquestionably an important player for them, but interest from the two Premier League clubs is apparently increasing.
Arsenal needs the World Cup champion.
Arsenal is eager to complete the transaction, and it is understandable that they want to sign the player. They need a dependable striker to lead the line. Gabriel Jesus has struggled to score on a consistent basis, and Arsenal’s attacking squad lacks depth.

The 25-year-old knows the Premier League well, having won the title with Manchester City, and he may make an immediate impact at Arsenal.
Liverpool keen on Julian Alvarez
Similarly, Liverpool requires an upgrade on Darwin Nunez, who has been unimpressive this season. The South American has only scored 7 goals in all competitions, so Alvarez would be a significant improvement.
He has a contract with the Spanish club until 2030 and is expected to cost a significant amount of money. It remains to be seen how the issue develops.
Liverpool has to enhance several aspects of their roster, and paying a large sum of money for the World Cup winner may be impossible.
