Arsenal are reportedly considering going back in for Ollie Watkins after seeing their first offer rejected by Aston Villa.
Despite Arsenal’s interest, Unai Emery has insisted that Watkins is “happy to stay” at Villa Park at least until the summer, even though the Clarets and Blue may be under PSR scrutiny shortly after acquiring Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio.
Therefore, a good offer for any player, including Watkins, could make Villa to be persuaded to sell their valuable asset by a decent offer.
According to Football Talk, the Villans are adamant about considering £60 million for Watkins, while Arsenal have made a bid of £40 million. Given his 11 goals and nine assists this season, it should go without saying that the Englishman is an important member of the team.

With Jhon Duran sold to Al Nassr, his importance is expected to grow in the second half of the season.
Arsenal should ideally be paying £60 million for a forward who has demonstrated his abilities in the Premier League.
But since there will probably be a number of options available in the same price range during the summer transfer window, it is not surprising that they would be hesitant to match Aston Villa’s asking price for a player who will turn 30 in December of this year.
Furthermore, their performance against Manchester City demonstrated the strength of their attacking unit even in the absence of a natural striker and perhaps their finest player, Bukayo Saka.
Therefore, if discussions about the Gunners’ goals for the future have already taken place, Mikel Arteta might not make a big deal out of the absence of additions during the past four weeks.
