Arsenal Plot New Ollie Watkins Move

Arsenal are likely to revive their offer to sign Aston Villa attacker Ollie Watkins this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Villa knocked aside a £50million approach from the London giants for their top striker, 29, in the January transfer window.

Watkins was Unai Emery’s uncontested attack leader at the time, but his role has slipped since Marcus Rashford joined on loan in January.

Watkins was left out of the starting lineup for several important Villa games, including a Champions League double-header against Paris Saint-Germain.

Arsenal shortlists Watkins for the summer window.

That growth has not gone unnoticed by Arsenal, who are looking for a proven centre-forward this summer.

Watkins will be on their shortlist of targets as Mikel Arteta’s team seeks to overhaul their attack in the offseason.

The England international is poised to return to the starting lineup permanently at Aston Villa, with Rashford set to miss the remainder of the season due to injury.

Watkins has 16 goals and 13 assists in 50 games in all competitions this season.

The striker, who is out of contract with Villa in June 2028, had his finest Premier League season last year, scoring 19 goals and providing 15 assists.

Meanwhile, on April 18, Football Insider stated that Liverpool is also keeping a close eye on Watkins’ position at Aston Villa.

The Reds are considering the Villa player as an option to Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, who is expected to be priced out of a summer transfer.

Liverpool intends to sign a new out-and-out striker in the off-season, despite winning the Premier League title this season.
