Arsenal finally signed a striker this summer, securing a deal for Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon. The Swedish international is currently a regular starter in the team, having scored six goals across all competitions thus far.
His arrival, however, might be followed by Gabriel Jesus departing Emirates Stadium due to worries over his own role at the club, paving the way for another number nine to join sooner rather than later.
According to Fichajes, Arsenal are interested in signing Levante striker Karl Etta Eyong next year, following his quick start with the La Liga club since moving from Villarreal on Deadline Day this summer.
The 22-year-old has six goals and three assists in 12 La Liga appearances this season and is thought to have a £35 million release clause in his contract, which the Gunners are willing to exercise, according to the source.
Etta Eyong good backup choice
Viktor Gyokeres is unlikely to be denied a starting position at Arsenal anytime soon. As a result, any new striker signed by the Londoners will have to battle with the 27-year-old for consistent game time, with the club also in need of a backup.

Karl Etta Eyong would do an excellent job. He is capable of making an immediate impact in the box, thanks to his intelligent movement, ability to get onto the end of set pieces, and strong heading, making him an ideal fit for Mikel Arteta’s ideas.
Having said that, it would be intriguing to see if the Cameroonian international is willing to take a secondary role at Arsenal. The Gunners will be confident that he will join them, since they will present him with a big increase over Levante.
Gabriel Jesus has yet to get a solid offer, so a potential new signing of a new number nine is still significantly dependent on the Brazilian international’s future at the Emirates Stadium as well as his influence upon his return from injury.
