Arsenal are keeping a careful eye on Leon Goretzka’s contract status, as the midfielder has emerged as a potential free agent target ahead of the summer transfer window.
According to the Daily Mirror, the Gunners are among numerous clubs interested in signing the Bayern Munich star after his current contract expires in June.
The north London club is believed to have made exploratory enquiries during the January transfer window, but Bayern Munich refused to authorize a mid-season departure.
With Bayern still contending on numerous fronts and lacking experienced midfield depth, the German champions were keen to keep Goretzka until the end of the season.

That position, however, is anticipated to soften after the season is over.

Goretzka, now 31, is one of European football’s most experienced midfielders. During his time at Bayern, he has won numerous Bundesliga titles and the Champions League, earning a reputation for his muscular presence, intelligent movement, and goal threat from midfield.
Despite greater competition for positions in recent seasons, he has consistently delivered in crucial situations, notably in high-pressure games.
Under Mikel Arteta, the club has established a youthful, energetic core, but there is growing realization that extra leadership and know-how will be required if they are to sustain title challenges and participate in European competition.
