Arsenal Hijack Liverpool’s Transfer Move For Wonderkid, Repeating The Steps Twice

Arsenal reportedly moved in to steal a highly regarded teenage striker from Liverpool. The Reds were in pole position to capture Will Wright from Salford City, having made an offer to the League Two team.

However, Liverpool has conceded defeat in the hunt to sign the 17-year-old striker after Arsenal outbid them. Manchester City, Brentford, Leicester City, and Burnley have all expressed interest in Wright’s goal scoring abilities.

The 6ft 3in striker scored over 50 goals at all levels for Salford last season and has been on fire in preseason. He has scored four goals in friendlies for Karl Robinson’s side, continuing his rise after making four first-team appearances last season.

But it now appears like his future lies away from the club owned by Gary Neville and David Beckham. According to the Sun, Arsenal has offered £250,000 with add-ons for Wright.

They are convinced that will be enough to get the teenage striker, while Liverpool has only offered approximately £100,000 plus add-ons.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool has withdrawn from the contract, and the situation is identical to Martin Zubimendi’s, albeit on a smaller scale. Zubimendi moved to Arsenal for £51 million this summer after a similar deal with Liverpool fell through last season.

Salford boss Robinson is well aware of the talent in his squad, namely Wright. He spoke highly of himself after scoring both goals in a 2-2 draw with Manchester United FC.

“He’s on top,” he said. “He’s a local lad and one we’re incredibly proud of, and he demonstrated all of his qualities today…” He’s unquestionably a goal scorer; we see that every day.
