According to sources, Arsenal ‘remain heavy favourites’ to recruit RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko, who might join the Premier League this summer.
Sesko has developed as one of Europe’s most promising young strikers, and he has been connected with numerous top European clubs in the last year.
Arsenal are looking for at least one new striker, and Sesko was their top target during last year’s summer transfer window.
This agreement appeared to be on the cards at first, but the 21-year-old ultimately decided to devote his future to RB Leipzig, signing a long-term contract extension until 2029.
The Slovenian international has been in excellent form this season, with 17 goals and five assists in 34 games across all competitions.

Despite signing a contract extension until 2029, he is widely expected to leave RB Leipzig this summer.
It was first assumed that he had a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ in his contract, but German journalist Philipp Hinze has uncovered that he has a formal release clause.
Hinze outlined the three variables influencing the price of Sesko’s clause: “Until today, everyone assumed that Benjamin Sesko and RB Leipzig had just reached a verbal agreement.
According to Sky, Šeško’s current contract has a release clause for the summer. This exit choice is also performance-based.
“At present, the clause is valued at around €70m, but in the case of maximum success, the sum could rise to as much as €80m. Goals, assists, and playing time are key factors in determining the total amount. The better Šeško performs, the more expensive he becomes.”
