Arsenal indicated interest in signing Eintracht Frankfurt left winger Jean-Matteo Bahoya, according to SPORT1.
The 20-year-old progressed through the ranks of Ligue 1 club Angers, where he made 32 appearances. While his goal-scoring numbers were not exceptional, Frankfurt, in their usual effective recruitment approach, thought the forward good enough for their squad and signed him in January 2024.
Remarkably, he has already matched last season’s two-goal return total in the current season, scoring twice in Frankfurt’s opening game against Werder Bremen and adding an assist against Hoffenheim.
Although his output in front of goal has recently decreased, he remains a constant threat when called upon, and his potential is clearly visible whenever he is on the field.
With the transfer window closing soon, several clubs are hoping to sign him to reinforce their frontline.
According to SPORT1, Premier League heavyweights Arsenal are keeping an eye on him and have indicated an interest in signing the France U21 international to improve Mikel Arteta’s attack.

Following the unsuccessful transfer saga in which Mykhaylo Mudryk joined Chelsea at the last minute after the Gunners had been in talks for a long time before losing out, one thing is clear: Mikel Arteta is interested in speedy wingers.

This is seen again in Arsenal’s interest in Bahoya, who has recently been one of the Bundesliga’s fastest players.
The 20-year-old became the quickest player to appear in the Bundesliga since at least the 2011-12 season, accomplishing the feat during Frankfurt’s matchday 26 meeting with Bochum last season.
He achieved an incredible 23.09 mph (37.16 km/h), becoming the first footballer in league history to surpass both the 23-mph and 37-km/h criteria.
For contrast, Bahoya’s peak speed was very close to Usain Bolt’s average speed of 23.35 mph (37.58 km/h) when the Jamaican established the 100-meter world record at the 2009 World Championships.
