Arsenal End Two Deals After Failing To ‘Reach An Agreement’

Arsenal have reportedly walked away from deals for Real Madrid forward, Rodrygo Goes and Bayern Munich midfielder, Joao Palhinha.

The Gunners have been quite active in the transfer market this summer. But in the past two weeks, there has been more speculation.

Christian Norgaard, Martin Zubimendi, and Kepa Arrizabalaga have already been added by Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and new sporting director Andrea Berta this summer.

Arsenal are getting near to reaching an agreement with Sporting CP on a fee for Viktor Gyokeres, while deals for Valencia center-back Cristhian Mosquera and Chelsea winger Noni Madueke are expected to be finalized shortly.

The Premier league giants have also been linked with Rodrygo, who has fallen down the pecking order under Xabi Alonso at Madrid.

According to rumors, he would fetch €100 million, and Liverpool, Arsenal’s Premier League rivals, are reportedly interested.

However, according to the Spanish newspaper Cadena Ser, Real Madrid are not “considering any possible exits,” and Arsenal’s “options” to finalize a deal for Rodrygo have “closed.”

Additionally, according to Bild, Arteta is interested in bringing former Fulham defensive midfielder Palhinha back to the Premier League from Bayern. This is another player for whom Arsenal had ended discussions.

In order to fund their summer transfer window, Bayern “need a few sales,” and “there was almost a major transfer just before the Club World Cup,” with Arsenal showing interest in Palhinha.

The Portuguese’s experience with the Premier League from his time at Fulham was the main reason Arsenal had their sights set on him, but they “finally couldn’t reach an agreement.”
