Arsenal Defeated Barcelona To Sign 16-Year-Old South American Wonderkids

FC Barcelona is always on the search for outstanding talent from across the world to help boost their young ranks and turn them into future stars.

The Blaugrana are keeping a close eye on the South American continent in particular, hoping to find the next big talent.

Arsenal defeated Barcelona to sign Edwin and Holger Quintero.

However, in a blow to the Catalans, they appear to have lost the race to recruit two teenage prodigies who were on their radar.

Indeed, according to Joaquim Piera of SPORT, Edwin and Holger Quintero, both 16 and from Independiente del Valle, were highly ranked by Barcelona’s scouting department but are set to sign for Arsenal.

Scouts who monitor the South American market have long recognized both players’ potential, which was cultivated at Ecuador’s premier young development club.

Edwin is a left-footed winger who can play on either flank. Highly technical, gifted in one-on-one situations, two-footed, a scorer, and graceful on the ball, he is regarded as an indisputable attacking talent.

His brother Holger is an offensive No. 10 who is likewise known for his technical ability – he is light, swift, has outstanding vision, and excels at arriving from the second line.

Barcelona’s scouting staff had high hopes for the Ecuadorian twins, but Arsenal moved quickly to recruit them.

The structure of the transaction is already in place. The agreement between the teams will be finalized in the following days for an unknown fee.

Edwin and Holger Quintero are currently in London for medical examinations and will return to Ecuador thereafter. Their official move to the Premier League will take place in the summer of 2027, when they reach 18 years old.
