Arsenal Dealt Injury Blow As Arteta Issues Gyokeres Update

Mikel Arteta has reportedly revealed that Viktor Gyokeres is still unavailable for Arsenal in their Premier League game against Sunderland on Saturday.

Gyokores hurt his hamstring during last weekend’s triumph at Burnley, therefore he was unable to play in Arsenal’s 3-0 success over Slavia Prague on Tuesday.

The Swede was not included in the Sweden team for their forthcoming World Cup qualifiers after undergoing scans this week.

Arsenal won’t play again until their north London derby against Tottenham on November 23.

According to The Evening Standard, while speaking about Gyokeres on Friday morning, Arteta said: “No, no news. We remain the same, nobody new that can join the squad. So, all the same.”

Gyokores was one of eight first-team players who were absent from Arsenal’s victory against Prague.

Though Martin Zubimendi, who served his Champions League suspension, will be back for Saturday’s trip to Sunderland.

Gabriel Martinelli is absent due to a thigh injury, while Kai Havertz, Martin Odegaard, and Noni Madueke are all out with knee injuries.

Previously, Arteta has expressed his hope that all four players will return for the North London derby.

“Some of them, all of them I don’t know,” the Spaniard added on Friday. “There are a lot of things that have to happen in the next two weeks, and everything has to be perfect, but I think we’ll be very close with most of them to be in a really strong position.”

For the first time since having knee surgery in January, Gabriel Jesus resumed full training on Thursday.
