In the fourth round of the UEFA Champions League, Real Madrid lost narrowly 0-1 to Liverpool at Anfield.
Despite the Reds’ victory thanks to an Alexis MacAllister header in the second half, Xabi Alonso’s team can take some positives from their performance.
After the game, Liverpool manager Arne Slot agreed that Real Madrid remains the benchmark for every elite team, complimenting the Spanish club’s quality and organisation.
“I am really happy. We’ve had a terrible few weeks. There are many away games and little time to rest.
“We barely had two days to prepare, and Real Madrid had the same.

“It was important to play in front of our fans because Real Madrid, apart from my players, are the best,” Slot told Amazon Prime, according to Mundo Deportivo.
How To Beat Real Madrid
Despite lacking key defensive players, Real Madrid struggled to threaten Liverpool’s goal.
The combination of Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr. caused issues on the counter, but narrow margins prevented a breakthrough. Slot acknowledged the dangers they posed.
“Real Madrid has 26 goals in La Liga.” Vinicius and Mbappe have 24 goals between them, so if you want to have a chance against them, you must ensure they do not score,” he stated.
In terms of the group stage, the setback is unlikely to have a substantial impact on Real Madrid’s qualification chances.
Real Madrid is now fifth in the rankings, having collected nine points from four matches.
Although the table will undoubtedly alter, given the schedule of matches for later today, it is reasonable to expect Real Madrid to finish in the top eight this season.
