Arne Slot praised Dominik Szoboszlai’s cunning for opening the score in Liverpool’s triumph over Marseille.
The Reds advanced significantly to the Champions League round of 16 with a 3-0 victory at the Stade Velodrome.
Liverpool were deserving victors, but they had to wait for first-half stoppage time to break the deadlock. It came via Szoboszlai’s brilliant free kick, in which he shot low, anticipating the Marseille wall to jump.
Reds goalkeeping coach Xavi Valero was responsible for noticing that the French team did not utilize a draught excluder, which is someone who lies down to stop any attempts to go under the wall.
However, Liverpool insisted seconds earlier that they should have received a penalty for handball.

Speaking to LFCTV, Reds manager Slot said: “I believe that is one of the reasons he is a quality player. Quality players are cool enough to recognize what is being told to them in situations like this, as well as others where tactical discipline is required. You frequently get players who are good enough or better than their level of play.
“It was a Dom moment, and Xavi did an excellent job as well. However, I don’t think Dom should have taken the ball. It should have been Mo because there should have been a punishment. We’ve been on the wrong end of refereeing decisions numerous times this season, and it happened again tonight. I’ve also mentioned several times that we shouldn’t rely on these bad judgments and should still be able to win the game.
“That is extremely positive, and I am confident that it cannot continue with all of these rulings that are against us. There will come a time when things return to normal.
