Arne Slot Identifies What Cost Liverpool Against Arsenal And Makes Premier League Point

Arne Slot referred to a lack of intensity at the start of the second half for the reason Liverpool threw away a two-goal lead at home to Arsenal on Sunday. The Reds struck twice in quick-succession midway through the first half through Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz to seize control of proceedings against the Gunners.

However, they were pegged back early in the second half by Gabriel Martinelli, who headed home before Mikel Merino levelled the scores in the 70th minute. The latter was later dismissed for a second bookable offense.

However, although responding strongly after conceding the equaliser, Liverpool were unable to capitalise and were forced to settle for a share of the points.

With three games remaining, Slot’s side currently leads second-placed Arsenal by 15 points. They won the Premier League title last month.

However, following last weekend’s unfortunate 3-1 defeat at Chelsea, Slot admitted that his side lacked intensity at the start of the second half in what he described as a tremendously fascinating match. Reported By Echo News.

“Unfortunately we had 15-20 minutes where we played with the same intensity (as against Chelsea),” the Reds manager stated.

“And it’s not all awful, but I missed a few moments, and they were the first 15-20 minutes of the second half, which were similar to what we saw last week, when we played really well with the ball and got into so many promising positions, but we were not decisive in the final third.

“And our defending was poor last week, as evidenced by the goals conceded in the first 15 minutes after halftime.

“But the first half was excellent. I believe this is why fans enjoy the Premier League so much.
