Liverpool manager Arne Slot under pressure after the club suffered another setback on Saturday. Slot, 47, had a fairytale first year at Anfield after succeeding Jurgen Klopp and leading the Reds to Premier League triumph.
However, the former Feyenoord manager has had a rough start to the 2025–26 season. Saturday’s humiliating 3-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest has raised additional concerns about his future in the post.
To make matters worse, Liverpool’s poor performance comes despite investing £450 million on their roster over the summer. Liverpool’s setback on Saturday extended their terrible run this season to six defeats in their past seven games across all competitions, following a 3-0 loss to Manchester City before the international break in November.
With all eyes on Slot, some analysts have offered the Dutchman a reality check over his position in the Anfield hot seat. In other news, former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has once again been linked with a return to the club.
Slot sack stance
Scrutiny is inevitably increasing on Slot. However, two well-known commentators do not anticipate the Dutchman getting fired this season after winning the title at Anfield.

Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown is sure that Slot will not be released by Liverpool just yet. “We have to give credit to Forest for what they’re doing, but yes, Arne Slot’s wheels are coming off now,” Keown told Final Score postgame.
“Obviously, it was Jurgen Klopp’s team, and he attempted to come in and make improvements, but he spent £450 million on players, and they are regressing. They’ve simply been undone. I’m not sure if it’s a crisis, but six defeats in seven games is a huge problem for the management. Unthinkable.”
Jamie Redknapp, a former Liverpool midfielder, expressed similar comments on Sky Sports following Forest’s triumph. He stated, “I look at Liverpool now, and this is what I expected to happen last season.”
“After Jurgen Klopp left the club, I assumed it would have a detrimental impact on the team. There wasn’t. They accomplished something truly amazing by winning the league.
“Right now, I believe it is a time for patience because there will be individuals, commentators, and everyone going crazy, [saying] ‘Sack the manager’. [Be] calm, take your time, and examine it; it’s been the most grueling preseason you could imagine for those players.”
