The contract of the 19-year-old La Masia prodigy was set to expire at the conclusion of the current season, and negotiations to extend it had been continuing for some time.

Yaakobishvili signed a contract renewal with the Blaugrana earlier today at the club headquarters after joining Pini Zahavi’s agency.

According to the club release, “FC Barcelona and Aron Yaakobishvili have reached an agreement for a contract extension, which will keep him at the club for the next three seasons, until June 30th, 2028.”

“This means the 19-year-old Hungarian goalkeeper will remain with the club after his youth career and will join Barça Atletic next season.”

Currently playing for Barça Juvenil A, Yaakobishvili was instrumental in the team’s treble victory this season under Juliano Belletti, reports Barca Universal.

In addition, the adolescent earned his Barça Athletic debut this season and has made three appearances for the reserves. He occasionally joins the first team’s matchday roster.

Yaakobishvili’s contract renewal means that he will officially join Barça Athletic for the upcoming season, but there’s a good chance he’ll be sent out on loan in the summer.
