‘Angry’ Vitor Pereira Hesitant To Enter Dressing Room After ‘Unfair’ Liverpool Victory

Vitor Pereira questioned Liverpool’s victory and admitted to being “angry with football” following a dramatic finish against Nottingham Forest. Alexis Mac Allister scored the only goal seven minutes into extra time, giving the Reds a 1-0 Premier League victory on Sunday afternoon.

The goal was permitted after a long VAR review determined that Virgil van Dijk was onside from Dominik Szoboszlai’s cross before his header was parried by Stefan Ortega into the path of Mac Allister.

And new Forest boss Pereira said: “We lost the ball from a throw-in and then there was a small tactical detail. If you want to control the far post as the far post was the zone they attacked with the biggest players, it means we had to adjust our line to control the situation.

“In my perspective, (Hugo) Ekitike was in the same zone as Van Dijk but was offside. But that will not change the decision.”

Forest dominated the first half, but Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker only had to make one notable stop during the game, denying Callum Hudson-Odoi in the opening stages, reported by Liverpool News.

“I am very frustrated today, it was very difficult to go inside the dressing room,” Pereira told the crowd. “What could I tell them?

“Even after conceding the disallowed goal, we still had a chance to score because we wanted to win the game.

“I’m frustrated, unhappy, and outraged about football. But it’s important to keep the mentality, to come back stronger and more confident to face the future, since the first half was similar to how we played in Istanbul (Forest defeated Fenerbahce 3-0 in the Europa League play-off first leg on Thursday), but we didn’t score.
