Real Madrid’s signing of Kylian Mbappe as a free agent may go down in history as one of the most stunning moves in history, especially given that players of this caliber are rarely available without incurring transfer costs.
The wait for Los Blancos to sign him, however, was anything from simple, as Florentino Perez and his team worked tirelessly year after year, only to be met with refusal.

Speaking to the media earlier this week, Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku’s agent, Federico Pastorello, revealed a surprise fact about the player’s recent transfer history: Carlo Ancelotti was considering him for Real Madrid’s front department.

“There was a chance for Lukaku to join Real Madrid,” he told me.
His statements, however, made it plain that Los Blancos’ strong desire to capture Kylian Mbappe rendered the Lukaku alternative unfeasible.
“They were thinking of a forward, but they were already focused on Mbappe for the next year, so they didn’t want to spend on a loan deal,” stated the player.
He then added that Ancelotti was in favor of bringing in Lukaku as a temporary replacement for the number nine position.
Carlo Ancelotti would have preferred him, but it did not happen.
Lukaku now plays for Napoli in the Serie A although he has been out of action since suffering a serious injury in pre-season.
Last term, he had 14 goals and 10 assists to his name in 36 league appearances.
