Ex-Real Madrid Manager’s Son Gets First Managerial Job

Former Real Madrid assistant manager and son of Carlo Ancelotti, Davide has reportedly landed his first managerial role following four years at the Santiago Bernabeu.

According to Marca as reported by Football Espana, Ancelotti has agreed to a deal with Botafogo and will take over as manager of the Brazilian champions.

Less than a year after winning the Brazilian championship and their first-ever Copa Libertadores triumph, the Italian has a difficult act to follow as he replace Renato Paiva.

A contract is said to have been accepted by Davide Ancelotti.

Davide has been associated with multiple roles in recent years. He joined his father as a fitness coach for Paris Saint-Germain in 2012, and he would work with him for the following 13 years, first as a coach and later as an assistant manager.

Before returning to Los Blancos for a second stint in 2021, he worked for clubs including Bayern Munich, Napoli, and Everton.

One of the teams who approached Davide to offer him a position as senior manager was Everton. He then had discussions with Reims last summer and Parma, Como, and Rangers this year.

Russell Martin was chosen as the head coach ahead of the 40-year-old, who was down to the last two for the position at Ibrox.

Davide will once more be with his father, who has committed to the Brazil national team to the conclusion of the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, when he arrives in Rio de Janeiro in the coming days.

Although it wouldn’t be shocking if the Italian relied on his father for guidance, as this is the first time he has worked independently.
