Amorim Believes Manchester United’s Absence From Champions League Will Help The Club

The Portuguese coach addressed the media in Malaysia’s capital, Kuala Lumpur, following United’s worst season since 1974, finishing 15th in the Premier League.

They missed out on a Champions League lifeline, as well as a cash reward, when they lost 1-0 to fellow strugglers Tottenham in the Europa League final last week.

“I have to say that not being in the Champions League could be an advantage for us to perform better, prepare better for games, and build that core that we need for the future,” said Amorim, who took over for Erik ten Hag during the season but failed to ignite a turnaround. According to France.

“So I think it’s a good thing for us to take advantage not to have European games,” added Amorim, whose phone alarm went off at the press conference ahead of Wednesday’s friendly against a Southeast Asian XI, eliciting laughs from members of the media.

With limited funds to bring in the proper players for his preferred formation this summer, Amorim faces a difficult assignment in returning United to the elite ranks next season.

“The goal right now is to win the first game. We have a lot to do this summer. “We need to prepare the team,” he explained.

“When you are Manchester United, everyone will expect you to be at the top. However, we must first comprehend the situation.

“When we stepped off the plane, there were hundreds of people ready to take pictures and welcome us to the country. We’re excited to be here and are looking forward to the game tomorrow,” he remarked.
