Former Atalanta talent Lukáš Vorlický believes he could have followed in the footsteps of Amad Diallo and Dejan Kulusevski by joining Manchester United if not for a cruel run of injuries.
The 23-year-old Czech winger began his football journey at Boskovice and Zbrojovka Brno before moving to Atalanta’s academy in 2017, where he impressed in the club’s youth teams alongside several future stars.
Vorlický made his Serie A debut for Atalanta in 2023 but suffered a serious knee injury just two games later — the start of a devastating cycle that has seen him undergo five knee surgeries in seven years.

From Atalanta Prospect To Injury Setbacks
After his injuries, Vorlický returned to his homeland with Slavia Prague, where he’s managed just 14 senior appearances.
In contrast, his former teammates Amad and Kulusevski have flourished in the Premier League with Manchester United and Tottenham respectively.
Speaking to a Czech-based newspaper, Vorlický revealed his frustration but also acceptance of his fate, reports Mirror.
“Yes, I think I could have played at their level,” he admitted. “At Atalanta, everyone believed in me. But I was unlucky. That’s football.”
He refused to blame doctors or anyone else for his injury troubles, saying, “He operated on ten people that day — I just got the bad luck.”
Despite his setbacks, Vorlický remains grateful for his journey, saying he is “humanly happy,” even if he never got to realize his Premier League dream.
