Alexander Isak Slammed By Liverpool Icons Amid Transfer Stand-Off

Alexander Isak’s attempts to force a move from Newcastle United to Liverpool have angered not only Magpies supporters but also several Anfield legends.

The Sweden striker has been training alone after refusing to join Newcastle’s pre-season tour of Asia.

He also missed their Premier League opener against Aston Villa, fuelling speculation over his future, reports Mirror.

Liverpool saw a £110m bid rejected, with Newcastle holding out for closer to £150m. The saga has divided opinion, with many critical of Isak’s conduct.

Jamie Carragher was among the first to condemn the 25-year-old’s stance. Speaking to The i Paper, he said:

“Transfers happen every summer but I don’t think you should ever go nuclear and refuse to play. I just don’t like it.”

Legends Warn Liverpool Over deal

Carragher also admitted he would be uncomfortable with Liverpool paying £150m, warning that such a fee could impact new arrival Hugo Ekitike.

Former Reds and Newcastle midfielder Dietmar Hamann also weighed in, calling £150m a “spicy price tag” and suggesting Ekitike could lead the line instead.

Club icon John Barnes criticised Isak’s refusal to train, branding it poor professionalism, while Andy Carroll said the striker had now lost the support of Newcastle fans.

Michael Owen struck a more balanced tone, insisting Liverpool were not at fault, while John Aldridge blasted Newcastle’s “ludicrous” valuation.

As the saga drags on, Liverpool must decide whether to increase their bid or walk away from the summer’s most dramatic transfer story.
