Roy Keane reportedly claimed Alex Ferguson is “hanging on like a bad smell” at Manchester United.
In a tirade over who was “making the decisions” there, former United captain Keane—who famously broke out with Ferguson 20 years ago—took a jab at both his renowned former boss and the club’s former chief executive, David Gill.
Keane questioned if it was director of football Jason Wilcox or co-owner Jim Ratcliffe, asking why the team continued hiring managers only to conclude, “He’s not the guy for us,” approximately a year later.
Keane’s remarks came after Ruben Amorim was fired on Monday and Darren Fletcher was appointed caretaker. Fletcher said that he had asked Ferguson for “his blessing” before accepting the position.
