Manchester United youngster Chido Obi is edging closer to a season-long loan move to Bundesliga side Cologne, with talks reportedly progressing as the Red Devils look to accelerate the striker’s development.
The 18-year-old is regarded as one of the brightest prospects in United’s academy after enjoying another prolific campaign in front of goal, reports Team Talk.
Obi scored 20 goals across the club’s Under-18 and Under-20 teams this season and has already gained valuable first-team experience, making eight senior appearances since his debut.
The Danish forward also made history by becoming the youngest player to start a Premier League match for Manchester United, underlining the club’s belief in his long-term potential.
Cologne in advanced talks as United plan next step in striker’s development
According to reports, Cologne are in discussions with Obi’s representatives over a loan agreement that would see the teenager spend next season in Germany’s top flight.
Manchester United are understood to believe regular first-team football is the ideal next step for his progression, particularly with competition for places at Old Trafford expected to remain fierce under Michael Carrick.
