Ansu Fati’s permanent departure from Barcelona is getting closer, but there is still a major roadblock in the way.
According to SPORT, Monaco are completely committed to signing the Spanish forward following his loan stint, and the French team have every intention of using the agreement’s buy option.
However, the player’s salary demands have hindered negotiations even if both clubs are generally in agreement.
All eyes are now on whether a deal can be struck before the situation worsens, as Barcelona are keen to wrap up the deal as quickly as possible.
Salary Problem Still Unsolved
In addition to receiving a portion of any future sales, Monaco have chosen to trigger the €11 million purchase clause that was agreed upon with Barcelona.
The French team are willing to proceed with the permanent transfer since they believe it will be beneficial to retain the attacker. However, the process is not being hampered by that.

According to Barca Universal, Ansu Fati’s gross compensation for the previous season was €12 million, but according to the provisions of his Barcelona contract, that amount will rise to €14 million next season.
At the moment, Monaco are unable or unwilling to offer that pay package.
The Ligue 1 outfit are therefore pressuring the player to reduce his salary expectations. On the other hand, the Spaniard wishes to keep his current financial situation.
The transfer cannot be formally finalised until that dispute is settled.
