Former Liverpool forward Divock Origi has officially announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 31, bringing the curtain down on a career filled with unforgettable moments.
The Belgian striker leaves the game with a legacy that far outweighs his appearances, reports Mirror.
While never a guaranteed starter, Origi repeatedly delivered on the biggest occasions, earning legendary status among Liverpool supporters through a series of iconic goals.
His most memorable contributions came during Liverpool’s triumphant 2018-19 Champions League campaign.
Origi scored in the famous semi-final comeback against FC Barcelona before finding the net again in the final as Liverpool lifted Europe’s biggest prize.
Signed from LOSC Lille in 2014, Origi went on to score 41 goals in 175 appearances for Liverpool despite starting only 68 matches.
His reputation as a game-changing substitute made him a fan favourite throughout his time at Anfield.
“My Purpose Is Fulfilled”
Announcing his decision on social media, Origi reflected on his journey and revealed he feels his mission in football has been completed.

After leaving Liverpool, Origi joined AC Milan before later spending time on loan with Nottingham Forest. He also earned 32 caps for Belgium national football team, scoring three goals for his country.
Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp once described Origi as a “Liverpool legend,” praising his impact and calling him one of the most important players he had ever coached. Few supporters at Anfield would disagree.
