According to The Athletic, Chelsea are set to ‘push’ for a deal this summer, since they have a long-term interest in Rogers. It has also been stated that the Blues’ failure to qualify for the Champions League will not be a major setback.

Chelsea might have a minor edge since recruitment co-director Joe Shields knows the player from their time at Manchester City’s academy.

According to CIES Football Observatory, Rogers should get €127-147 million (£109.7-£127 million) this summer. It remains to be seen whether Villa would demand such a premium.

The midfielder earned his position in the team by scoring ten goals and providing seven assists in 37 Premier League games last season.
