Liverpool legend, Sir Kenny Dalglish has acknowledged that he is receiving treatment for a cancer diagnosis.
Dalglish, who has managed the Reds twice in addition to being a player, announced the news on social media on Tuesday morning after raising concerns about his health earlier.
The 75-year-old, who is considered by many to be the best player in Liverpool’s history, had attended the Premier League season’s last game at Anfield nine days prior, where he participated in the post-match presentations for Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah, who were leaving.
Daglish Statement
“As my inadvertent social media post has indicated, I am currently undergoing treatment for cancer,” said Dalglish as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.
“Unlike my mobile phone use, the treatment is going well.
“Ideally, this would have remained private because that’s the way it should be, but my useless technology skills have forced my hand.
“Obviously I did not mean to make this matter public so I would appreciate it if the privacy of my family and myself are respected.

“As ever, thank you to the wonderful medical staff who have shown incredible care and discretion, not just for me but for many, many others. They are a credit to themselves.”
A Liverpool club statement said: “The support, best wishes and love of everyone at Liverpool FC are, and will be, with Sir Kenny and his family. The club would also like to underscore his request for privacy moving forward.”
The announcement was made just one day after Kevin Keegan, the player Dalglish replaced on the Liverpool team in 1977, disclosed that he had been diagnosed with stage four cancer.
