Arsenal Star Pushing For Champions League Final Start Against PSG

Arsenal’s whole focus will be on the Champions League final clash with Paris Saint-Germain this week.

It is almost time to find out if the Gunners will make further history by winning their first trophy in Europe’s top competition after clinching their first Premier League title in 22 years.

More than 20 years after the Invincibles, Mikel Arteta’s team will always be remembered as the one that put a stop to Arsenal’s title quest.

However, a continental double would allow his side to reach even greater heights.

Zubimendi ‘Ready’ For UCL Final Return

Martin Zubimendi, who lately found himself on the Arsenal bench, made his first start in a month against Palace.

The Euro 2024 champion has responded by saying he’s “ready to go” and will be back in the starting lineup for Saturday’s match against PSG.

In addition to being left out of the starting lineup for the second leg of Arsenal’s Champions League semi-final against Atletico Madrid, Zubimendi, 27, has been placed on the bench for the team’s last three Premier League games.

Myles Lewis-Skelly has since regained Arteta’s respect as a deep-lying midfielder and could perhaps be ranked better in the current hierarchy than Zubimendi.

When Marca enquired whether the Spaniard envisaged himself back in the starting XI against PSG, Zubimendi replied: “I always see myself playing, but what actually happens is another matter.

“Lately, I haven’t been getting much playing time, but I’m ready to go out and play. My overall performance in the Premier League has been very good, and I’m not going to dwell on these benchings.

“It’s been a very demanding, long season, in which I’ve made efforts I haven’t made in my career, and that’s surely taken its toll. But I think I’m back to normal now.”
