Eddie Howe believes Sandro Tonali is still totally committed to Newcastle United, despite comments from his outspoken agent.
The Italian joined the Magpies from AC Milan for £55 million in 2023 and has made over 100 appearances since returning from a 10-month betting ban.
Tonali is regarded as one of the best central midfielders in the Premier League, and his performances have sparked attention from a number of top clubs.
Sandro Tonali’s agent raises speculation about the future
Giuseppe Riso, Tonali’s agent, has fueled rumors over his client’s future since he was linked with a deadline-day move to Arsenal in January.
After first dismissing Arsenal’s interest, Riso now claims it is’very likely’ that the Gunners or Manchester City will make a summer deal for Tonali.

Tonali is under contract at St James’ Park until 2029, with the possibility for an additional year.
Riso told Calcio&Finanza: “Newcastle is already a Champions League club, but Tonali is reportedly being targeted by top clubs vying for the Premier League title, such as Arsenal or Manchester City.”
“That was the goal from the moment he arrived in England: to develop him into a star player. I believe he is the Italian player with the highest worth in the world.
When asked if he expected to move to Manchester City or Arsenal this summer, Riso joked, “I don’t know! But it’s really likely.
“Everyone is waiting for the World Cup; then a thousand scenarios will unfold, but it all kicks off after the World Cup.”
Italy will meet Northern Ireland in their play-off semi-final, hoping to qualify for the World Cup for the first time since 2014. The winners of that game will meet the winners of Wales vs Bosnia & Herzegovina for a berth in the World Cup.
Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe answers to Sandro Tonali’s reports.
In response to Risco’s comments about Tonali’s future, Howe, addressing ahead of the Champions League last 16 second leg away to Barcelona, said: “I think the person that matters the most in this is Sandro.”
“So I’d rather take my leave from him. Sandro has always shown me that he is completely committed, a valuable member of the team, and at times unselfish.
“He is here for the team, not for himself. This is the attitude I’ve observed from him. And, of course, he faced a difficult situation when he initially joined, and he demonstrated exceptional character to get through it.
“So, whenever you’re in this circumstance, I believe you’re being led by the player. As I have stated, forget about the commotion around Sandro. He’s just completely dedicated.
“Of course, he’s been ill for the past few days, but before that, he was fully devoted to helping us replicate our best league form. And, of course, he wants to perform well in this competition [the Champions League].
